Bachelorette JoJo Fletcher told Us Weekly that she has a laid-back attitude when it comes to diet and fitness. And really, that’s not surprising at all: this is the woman who decided to marry fiancé Jordan Rodgers based on a casting call from television producers. They gave her a bunch of guys to get to know for a few weeks and voila! Married.

Should You Take Diet and Fitness Advice from The Bachelorette?

But if you’re wondering about her workout, diet, and fitness regimen because you saw her bikini body in a magazine or on social media, I’d like to point out that better sources are available. JoJo has what’s known as a 25-year old body combined with decent genetics and an athletic past—she used to play basketball, volleyball, and run track. But these days she goes to the gym a couple of times per week and focuses largely on cardio—Stairmaster and spin classes—for exercise.

When talking about her diet, she mentions she’s a food lover and loves anything cheesy, with a particular soft spot for truffle mac & cheese; just like your mom used to make! But it’s not all gooey goodness for the reality contestant who’s quickly realizing “you can’t eat out every single day.” She admits that healthy eating at home is becoming more of a thing. After all, “it’s easy to grill a piece of chicken and steam broccoli,” she told Us Weekly.

How You Can Build a Bikini Body This Winter

If you want to lose some fat and get toned this winter—so you’re ready for a mid-winter beach vacation—it’s best to get started as soon as you can. Losing weight and acquiring definition is a lengthy process that requires planning and proper execution.

JoJo’s onto something when she mentions how easy it is to make grilled chicken and broccoli—they are both essential foods if you’re planning to lose weight and get toned. Plenty of greens, about 1.2 g of protein per pound of body weight, healthy fats, and whole grains are the way to go.

It’s also essential to add resistance training to help build muscle in order to give your body shape, accelerate fat loss, and speed up your metabolism. Cardio is great for your heart, but isn’t enough to stay lean and toned. Try doing 2-3 weight training sessions per week, mixed in with at least 150-minutes of cardio. With proper planning and execution, you can aim to lose 1-2 pounds per week.
