Charlize Theron Talks on “Tully” Workout: “Mad Max” Star Gains 30 Lbs for the Role

Charlize Theron is set to appear in the upcoming film, Tully, and her role in the film has led her to gain 30 lbs. The Mad Max: Fury Road star is known to be a slender, tall actress, and she was previously a model prior to acting.

She now labels herself as “very fat” because of the weight gain. But Theron isn’t a stranger to enduring weight gain and specific workouts for movie roles. In fact, she has transformed herself numerous times for roles in Monster, and even Mad Max: Fury Road. For Theron, this is all part of the job.

When Theron stepped out recently to attend the amfAR Inspiration Gala in Los Angeles, she opted for an all-black and loose-fitting outfit. This is quite a change from what we are used to seeing her dressed in—tight-fitting, body-hugging outfits.

Theron performs ballet-style workouts in order to keep her in shape along with working out with trainer, Fedele De Santis. De Santis revealed to Shape magazine that the secret behind her ballet body is, “Make sure your grip for every exercise is narrow.

A wide grip makes the muscles grow wide and your body more masculine.” Along with ballet exercises, she also enjoys yoga, Pilates, and cardio exercises. She is all about looking lean but most of all balanced, so she equally trains her upper and lower body parts.

To enhance the effects of her training and workouts, Theron’s diet is also quite healthy and nutritious. She eats six small meals a day as opposed to three large ones, and her meals go everywhere she goes. She ensures there is a proper balance of all nutrients on her plate from calcium to protein and she stays away from junk food—you won’t see the South African beauty chomping down on pizza and French fries. To keep refreshed and hydrated, she drinks plenty of water throughout the day.

An example of a day of eating for Theron may include milk products and fruit for breakfast, yogurt for snack, a rich-in-protein lunch, antioxidant-rich fruits for her second snack, a high-fiber dinner, and before bed, she may enjoy some vegetables.

Even with 30 extra pounds on her, she still looks amazing. Although she may be feeling uncomfortable with the extra weight on, we are sure that she will have no problem trimming back down once filming wraps up. With regular workouts and a healthy, clean diet, Charlize Theron will be back to her model-looking self in no time—or at least until the next big movie role where she has to transform herself once again.
