British singer Ellie Goulding, who rose to incredible fame this year with her smash hit “Love Me Like You Do,” says that she keeps fit through working out, following a vegan diet, and occasionally listening to fellow British pop artist Zayn Malik’s music.
Goulding gave public support via Twitter earlier this summer to Malik when he canceled his performance at Capital’s Summertime Ball because of anxiety.
She said that anxiety is real and she knows the feeling. Ellie Goulding herself suffers from anxiety and has canceled appointments because of it. Her support of Zayn Malik doesn’t stop there, because she also plays his music when she trains, as evidenced by a clip she posted on her Instagram account, showing her working out to his song “Like I Would.”
The upbeat tempo of the song helped keep her motivated during an intense workout of burpees, mountain climbers, and jumping squats, followed by a round of high jumps. As to why she listens to Malik’s music, one could speculate that maybe her own song “Love Me Like You Do” doesn’t fire her up in the same way because of its slower tempo. Perhaps these intense workouts in some way help her craft her own songs while she’s burning calories. Or maybe she just likes his music.
Goulding suffered from low self-esteem before turning to exercise. She wasn’t pleased with how she looked and some days couldn’t even bring herself to leave the house, but thanks to her high-intensity interval training and other workout routines, plus her vegan diet, the singer is feeling better than ever and has the toned physique and amazing abs to prove it. She does mention, however, that the abs are simply a result of her training and were never a targeted part of her workouts. That is, getting skinny was never Goulding’s goal; being strong and fit was.
“Love Me Like You Do” singer Ellie Goulding and former One Direction singer Zayn Malik are not the only celebrities who suffer from anxiety and panic disorders. Others among them are Johnny Depp, Kate Moss, Scarlett Johansson, and Adele. Methods for overcoming anxiety will differ for anyone who suffers from it, depending on the type and severity; exercise and eating right (vegan diet or otherwise) may be important first steps.
