Halloween Party Ideas: Delicious Cake Recipes For Your 2016 Halloween Party Celebration

What’s a Halloween party without Halloween party food? The last thing on the list is a cake for the event, because who doesn’t love cake? No party is complete without something sweet and creamy. Halloween 2017 is here and everything has been planned—now there’s enough time to squeeze in making a cake. Below are some Halloween cake recipes that are simple to make, delicious to eat, and spooky enough to fit the theme of the night.

Halloween Recipes: Cakes

Here’s a fun cake that will visually appeal to younger kids, and it’s super easy to make.

Jack-O-Lantern Cake

You will need:

  • Two packages of spice cake mix
  • One ice cream cake cone
  • Four cans of Pillsbury Happy Birthday Funfetti Orange All Star Vanilla frosting
  • Two Oreo cookies
  • One package of ready-to-use rolled out black fondant (or make your own)

Bake cakes according to package directions, but use two 10-in. fluted tube pans for baking.

Once cooked, cut a thin slice off the bottom of each cake. Spread frosting on the bottom of one cake. Then press the flat sides together to make a pumpkin shape. Make a ball out of tin foil and place in the center to support the stem. Top this with an ice cream cake cone. Frost the cake with the rest of the frosting.

For the face, roll out the fondant to 1/8-in. thickness, and then cut it up into shapes for the mouth and nose. Remove the tops from the two Oreo cookies; cut half-circles on the outer edge of one side of the filling for eyes. Press the cookies and fondant into the frosting to complete the face.

If you’re having trouble finding a spice cake mix, buy a white cake mix and add two teaspoons of pumpkin spice, or 1/4 teaspoon ginger powder, 1/4 teaspoon cloves, and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon instead.

Trick or Treat Fun Cake

This next recipe is ridiculously easy to make and is great for when you have just a few hours to whip something up.

Purchase a chocolate cake mix and can of white frosting. You can make a quick frosting yourself with icing sugar and milk. All you need to do is add three cups of icing sugar to a standing mixer bowl and add 1/4 cup milk to start. Then put on low and mix until thick. Add more milk as needed if it’s too thick. A drop of vanilla can be added for flavor and any color of food dye can be added too.

Once the cake has been made according to package directions, allow to cool completely before frosting. After the cake has been frosted, using cookie gel icing that comes in tubes, write out Happy Halloween or Trick or Treat on the cake slab, and garnish with candies coming out from one end of the cake. A pumpkin and bat drawing on the cake are other good additions. Get creative!
