The effect of acetic acid, found in the vinegar, lowered renin activity (the enzyme that helps regulate blood pressure). The study suggested that under laboratory conditions, apple cider vinegar is indeed a natural treatment for blood pressure.

How Much Apple Cider Vinegar Should You Consume for Normalizing High Blood Pressure?

  • One of the easiest ways to incorporate apple cider vinegar into a diet is to add 1 to 2 tablespoons into a large glass of water or other beverage. This may not be the most appetizing way to include it into a daily diet, but it certainly is the easiest. Some pure, natural honey may also be added into the drink for added sweetness.
  • To add a little appetizing flavor into your daily apple cider vinegar drink, try adding 2 tablespoons of apple or grape juice, and ½ teaspoon of powdered stevia. This fruity drink will give you your daily dose of apple cider vinegar while masking the sour taste.
  •  For best results, start with 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in your choice of drink mixture. Slowly increase the dosage a teaspoon at a time over several weeks to 2 or 3 tablespoons. Ideally, the apple cider drink should be taken approximately 15 minutes before each meal, three times a day.
  •  If you suffer from acid reflux or heartburn, consume apple cider with a teaspoon of baking soda to cut down on the acidity. Apple cider vinegar is also available in pill or capsule form if you are unwilling to unable to stomach the flavor.
  •  Building up the amount of apple cider vinegar taken daily allows it to increase nitric oxide production that helps relax blood vessels and benefit the cardiovascular system, which over time will naturally result in lowering high blood pressure.

Are There Any Side Effects of Taking Apple Cider Vinegar for Blood Pressure?

Consuming apple cider vinegar is safe for most adults when used in short-term for medical purposes. But one case involving a 28-year hospital patient suggests consuming large amounts of the vinegar over the long term might not be safe.

The woman,who consumed eight ounces of apple cider vinegar daily for six years, developed low potassium levels and osteoporosis. Therefore, taking it on a short-term basis and in consultation with your doctor appears to be the safest course of action. (1)
