Victoria Beckham certainly seems like she has it all: a picture-perfect family, a successful career as a fashion designer, and a world-famous husband—not to mention a perfect figure that doesn’t seem to change as she ages.
The 39-year-old mother of four makes healthy living a priority. After all, her husband, David Beckham, played sports for a living for 20 years so the Beckhams are bound to emphasize the importance of healthy living to their four children.
Although Victoria has a super slim figure, she told Allure magazine that she doesn’t adhere to strict diets or restrictions to stay in shape.
“I’m not one of those people who can’t eat carbs,” she said. “I eat a lot. I do. I run four miles a day on the treadmill. I know that works for me, so I’ve kind of trained myself. I do lift weights.”
This might sound similar to the advice you’ve heard in the news: it’s all about listening to your body! Yes, some people may be born with better genes, but it’s what you do with those genes that counts—including eating when you need to eat and exercising without overdoing it.
One of the diets that Victoria Beckham has tried in the past is the Alkaline diet, which actually isn’t so strict at all. It just encourages you to follow healthy living principles by eating healthy fruits and vegetables, healthy grains like beans and lentils, and nuts. This doesn’t sound like a traditional extreme celebrity diet, but it works for her, and that’s what’s important.
While Victoria Beckham may look and feel great now, that wasn’t always the case. She told Allure magazine that she was often self-conscious as a child and never felt like a natural in the business. In the end, she said, hard work was what helped her reach the top.
Instead of following a strict celebrity diet, focus on what your body needs and what your body is trying to tell you. Not everyone can wake up at 6:00 a.m. for a run every single day, like Victoria Beckham. But maybe you can work out twice a week, and that’s a great start too. Maybe you’re not ready to drop all your junk food, like most celebrity diets entail, but perhaps you can stick to one or two junk food treats a week, instead of eating unhealthy foods every day.
In the end, small changes make a big difference in your healthy living. There’s never been a better time to start.
