Julianne Hough and brother Derek Hough showed why they are fantastic dancers in a video clip posted to her Instagram account this past weekend.
The two have been dancing since they were young, and they have danced together quite a bit over the years.
Because she has so much experience, Hough is incredibly flexible and has mastered many acrobatic flips that often get incorporated into dance routines.
Hough, 28, loves her body because she feels strong and fit, and that in turn makes her confident. The dancer and actress exercises up to six times a week, with five days of hardcore training.
On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays she does Tracy Anderson or Body by Simone or works out with her trainer, Astrid Swan. On Tuesdays and Thursdays she does power yoga, which she loves. She also enjoys doing a SoulCycle spinning class.

- Monday: Trampoline cardio at Body by Simone or a Tracy Anderson workout
- Tuesday: Hot yoga at CorePower Yoga
- Wednesday: Tracy Anderson workout
- Thursday: SoulCycle spinning classes and/or CorePower yoga
- Friday: Workout with a trainer
- Saturday: A CrossFit-inspired beach workout
- Sunday: Rest day and a walk with her dogs
On weekends, Hough likes to go hiking with her friends or takes another yoga class, depending on how she feels. Sundays are her day to reboot and prep for the week ahead. Walking the dogs is a definite must, though. The Dancing with the Stars judge admits that she hates the gym and would much rather do a dance workout, like the one in the video clip posted to her Instagram account.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Hough said that she definitely gets bored very easily: “So I have to mix it up a bunch. I’m one of those people that loves to try everything. I do a lot of boutique studio classes—Body by Simone or Tracy Anderson—I do CorePower Yoga, SoulCycle, Rise Nation. I work out with Astrid my trainer every once in a while to kind of mix it up. I think that’s important because it kind of shocks your body and you get to see more results.”
Hough is a self-professed fitness fanatic, so working out for her is fun. She knows dancing won’t target every part of her body, so she makes sure to implement other exercises, including those that target her biceps.
As for diet, Hough and her fiancé, NHL pro Brooks Laich, generally eat protein and vegetables. Pizza is Hough’s favorite cheat meal and she says she eats it a lot, though she firmly believes the one thing everyone should drop from their diet right away is fast food.
She told Entertainment Tonight that “as guilty and fun as it is to go through a drive-thru and get a cheeseburger or whatever, I just feel like you can make your own burger at home. You know what’s going into it. You know where it came from. And it’s just easy to go back and forth to those drive-thrus. Just kick that habit!”
