Julianne Hough Peanut Butter Pie Recipe
What does Julianne Hough have for dessert? Apparently she is not a big dessert person. That said, here is a peanut butter pie recipe from her blog. It is a perfect addition to your gluten free or vegan diet.
Crust Ingredients:
1 cup of walnuts or pecans
1 cup of cashews
2 tbsp. of honey, maple syrup, or agave
3 to 4 tbsp. of rice, soy, or almond milk
2 tsp. of pure vanilla extract
1 tsp. of cinnamon
1/4 tsp. of salt
Filling Ingredients:
1 cup of organic peanut butter, unsalted
3 medium bananas, ripe
3 tbsp. of almond, soy, or rice milk
2 tsp. of pure vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. of salt
1/3 cup of dark chocolate chips
Directions:
For the crust, place crust ingredients in a food processor and process until dough forms. Stop, and scrap the sides of the bowl. Start with a few tablespoons of almond milk, and add more to bring it to a desired consistency. Be careful not to over process the crust, and turn it into nut butter.
Transfer the dough to a nine-inch pie dish, and flatten the bottom and sides with your hands to make a pie shell. You can make the rim pretty with a fork.
Wash and clean the food processor, fill it with the filling ingredients, and process until smooth. Pause to scrape the sides of the bowl. Pour the filling into the crust and smooth it out with a spatula.
Sprinkle with chocolate chips, cover with plastic wrap, and freeze for three to four hours, or until frozen. Thaw it on a counter for about 30 minutes before serving.
