Mariah Carey flaunted her hourglass figure alongside John Legend at The Beacon Theatre on December 7th in a duet performance for her concert series—Mariah Carey: All I Want For Christmas Is You.

The sexy starlet stunned in a silver number that left very little to the imagination, as it exposed many of her curves. However, Mariah is known for being quite shameless when it comes to her outfits. She lives a glamorous life that to her is normal, while to the rest of us it looks a little over the top. Regardless, she does look incredible at 46. Here is a look into how she stays in shape.

Mariah Carey: Staying Sexy at 46

Mom to 5-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan, Mariah Carey looks far from the “average” mom. She is full of glamour, no matter where she goes. After gaining weight during her pregnancy in 2011, Mariah had to exercise a lot in order to lose the weight post-pregnancy. To help her lose weight, she followed a strict diet.

The Mariah Carey diet plan has her eating 1,500 calories per day. She avoids eating empty carbs like pasta and bread, and instead opts for high protein food options like fish, steak, chicken, and eggs. She also eats plenty of fruits and vegetables.

It’s safe to say that the singer eats a high protein diet with low carb intake. This is the diet that helped her shed the baby weight in just one year through her dedication and commitment. Some of the foods in her diet include spinach, swordfish, raw veggies, applesauce, omelets, and small amounts of bread.

The Mariah Carey workout is what keeps the sexy singer in great shape. She follows a consistent workout schedule that has her walking for an hour a few times per week. She also does water aerobic exercises which are great for low impact on joints.

Mariah worked with trainer Patricia Gay to help her achieve the shape she wanted. Water aerobics helped Mariah build strong muscles without bulking up. Mariah also does lap swimming, which means she is doing the breast stroke move, and that works her chest and arms. The resistance of the water is what helps her build strength and endurance.

Mariah also performs an abs workout in the water. She starts by holding empty water jugs and stretching her arms towards her sides. She does not move her arms and then lies on her back, extending both her legs straight out. She then tightens her core by pulling her knees toward her chest. Finally, she rolls over, with legs extended and again pulls her knees toward her chest, rolling back and forth a few times. She does 3 sets with 25 reps of this workout and her flat tummy and rock hard abs are proof she is reaping the rewards of her hard work.

Aside from the water aerobics exercises, Mariah also enjoys working with weights and stretching. She uses ball exercises to help tone, strengthen and lift her butt, and also trim her thighs.
