New Year’s dinner is expected to be a fancy affair. And why not, you are a year older, and wiser. While many love cooking a good old’ home style dinner, others love dining out with friends or family to welcome the New Year together.
During this time, the entire city boasts of parties and celebrations, making it difficult to choose where to head to. New Year’s Eve dinner party, gala’s, New Year’s Ball, buffet dinners are some of the many options one can choose from to ring in the New Year.

Restaurants open for New Year’s Eve 2017:
Located between Park and Lexington Aves, Agern is a classy Scandinavian restaurant which is elegant, poised and clean-lined. One of the signatures by Chef Gunnar Gíslaso is the salt-baked beet, which can be ordered as an a-la-carte dish. Available in Land + Sea ($145) and the vegetarian Field + Forest ($120) options, the hard outer salty shell needs to be cracked open to reveal the juicy interiors.
The warm, sweet and rustic preparation is served with pickled huckleberries, shaved horseradish and more beets (fresh, pickled and fermented). Other options comprise of oyster and pine and bread and butter. The tasting menu costs $145 for non-vegetarian and $120 for vegetarian.
Headed by Indian Chef Suvir Saran, Tapestry boasts of typical Indian flavors, in ways you would have never experienced before. The menu is designed by Saran in collaboration with his co-chefs Joel Corona and Aarti Mehta. Saran’s Birbal Kee Khitcheree (a spiced lentil and rice preparation), Chaat (Brussels sprouts with tamarind, mint chutney and kala namak) and Masala Fried Chicken (crunchy Indian spiced chicken with accompaniments) are interesting picks.
Serving one of New York’s best pasta dishes, Momofuku Nishi by Chef David Chang seldom serves anything ordinary. The menu for New Year 2017 dinner features elemental Cacio e Pepe, Myun (Korean noodles), Clams Grand Lisboa and Grilled Sweet Potato with Burned Garlic and Crispy Anchovy, amongst its signatures.
Greenpoint 21 by Sydney Silver and Homer Murray dishes out delicious preparations like Raw Porgy with Blush Plum and Fish Skin, Smoked-Cabbage Pierogi with Walla Walla Onion and Black Butter, and Hudson Valley Foie Gras Fried Rice with Linguiça Sausage and two eggs. The restaurant also serves authentic wood-fired pizzas.
James Beard Award–winning chef Patrick Connolly’s Rider offers Ricotta Toast with Grilled Mortadella and Shaved Raw Beets with Blue Cheese and Quinoa for vegetarian diners. Non vegetarians can pick from Confited Chicken Wings with Caramelized Fennel, and Roasted Beef served on a Bagna-Cauda lavished Baguette with Roasted Marrow and other options.
