Actress Shay Mitchell is best known for her role as Emily Fields on the hot Freeform series Pretty Little Liars (2010 to present). The 29-year-old got to enjoy some Lindt chocolate while getting ready for the Golden Globes on Sunday.

The Swiss chocolatier was a sponsor of a Golden Globes after party. Mitchell flaunted her beauty while wearing a sleek silver dress and holding some gold-wrapped Lindt chocolates that were given at the event. The Pretty Little Liars star is also known for her roles in 2016 movies Mother’s Day and Dreamland.

Besides acting, Mitchell models from time-to-time and appeared on the cover of Cosmopolitan in 2016. She was so excited about her first Cosmo cover that she spent two weeks getting into great shape. Mitchell recalled her vision board from about 10 years ago that had photos of her dream job, including covers of Cosmo, and now she had achieved her dream.

Despite her love for chocolate, she will always make time to stay in shape. How did Mitchell get into such good shape? The following is a brief outline of her exercise program, diet, and healthy lifestyle.

How Does Shay Mitchell Get Fit for ‘Cosmo’?

Mitchell made four big changes leading up to her big Cosmo photo shoot. Here they are below:

  1. She Limited Her Eating Hours: The star stopped eating after 8 p.m.
  2. Increased Her Water Intake: Increasing her water intake controlled her junk food cravings. She would carry around a liter of water and drink it instead of increasing her food consumption.
  3. Avoided Candy: Mitchell would often consume candy that is served on the Pretty Little Liars set; however, she cut that out for the two weeks before her Cosmo photo shoot.
  4. Took Her Workouts Outside of the Gym: Mitchell was trying to fit workouts into her busy schedule, so instead of a typical gym workout, she did triceps dips off her couch at home. She also lifted her legs for an extra challenge. For a cardio routine, she burned a lot of calories from a 10-minute rope skipping session.

Mitchell also works with different personal trainers like Harley Pasternak, Andrew Schuth, and Zach Murray. She will hit the gym five times weekly and loves doing all sorts of physical activities. Her workout sessions may include shadow boxing, dancing, weight training, running, stair climbing, rope climbing, Pilates, biking, hiking, spinning, crunches, sprints, squats. She has also completed a football camp-style workout while tossing around a 12-pound medicine ball.

Shay Mitchell’s Healthy Diet and Lifestyle

Shay Mitchell also follows a strict diet that is considered a protein-rich diet. Her balanced meals also contain lots of nutrient-dense organic foods such as walnuts, fruits, egg whites, vegetables, and fruits. She will also avoid dairy, sugar, and high-carb foods. For breakfast, she may eat an egg-white omelet with mushrooms and spinach. Lunch may include fish or chicken with a salad. For dinner she will eat vegetable soup.

Mitchell will also consume lots of water every day. The general recommendation for water consumption is eight to 10 8 oz. glasses of water per day. To make things interesting, Mitchell will freeze mint and grapefruit in ice cubes as a healthy addition to her water bottle. As a cheat meal, Mitchell will enjoy potato chips, pizza, or pasta from time-to-time. Mitchell will go grocery shopping at the beginning of her week and will cook as much as she can.
