Healthier Homemade Potato Chips Recipe

If you love fast food, especially French fries, but you want to lose weight, there is an alternative to giving up your favorite fast food snack. Why not make them at home? You can decide what goes into them, and are better able to control your portion size. That doesn’t make them healthier than some grilled vegetables, but every once in a while, you get to cheat a little bit. If you want to make this recipe even healthier, use sweet potatoes instead—a food high in beta-carotene, which is an antioxidant. Here’s a healthy recipe for homemade potato chips.

Ingredients

  • 3-4 Yukon gold potatoes
  • Olive oil cooking spray
  • 2 cloves of fresh garlic or 1 tbsp of garlic power
  • Cumin

Directions

Slice the potatoes thinly.
Lightly spray a flat cookie sheet with olive oil cooking spray and place the potatoes flat on the baking sheet.
In a separate dish, mix together extra virgin olive oil, fresh garlic (or garlic powder), and a dash of cumin.
Cook in the oven at 375°F until golden brown on each side.
Just before removing them, lightly brush each side with the olive oil mixture.
Put them back in the oven for two to three more minutes and remove.
Enjoy!
