Selena Gomez’s Favorite Foods: Balances Healthy, Whole-Grain Meals with Fav Fast Foods

Another Selena Gomez food fact is that she loves pizza, but the crust is her favorite part. She also loves to eat Cheetos, especially when on tour. (And you can’t blame her—who can resist that crunchy cheesiness?) Chocolate is another tour staple. One of her more interesting quirks is that she likes to eat whole lemons with some salt. Mangoes are also her favorite fruit. Talk about going from one extreme to the other!

You can count Subway sandwiches among the fast foods Selena Gomez loves to eat; for her, it’s a quick and healthy way to grab a bite. If you do it right, a sandwich from an establishment outside the home can be a healthy alternative. In this case, it’s best to stick to low-fat turkey, roast beef, and egg salad. Tuna is good too, as long as it isn’t mixed with a ton of mayo. On the other end of the fast-food spectrum, she likes Kentucky Fried Chicken.

She allegedly likes to drink olive oil for her voice. Olive oil is a good source of essential fatty acids, so if she can literally stomach it, there’s nothing wrong with this practice. Pickles are one of her favorite snacks and she has been cited as saying that cheesecake is her top choice for dessert. Gomez also enjoys coffee (she admits she has an addiction for the stuff), chicken pot pie, and Thai cuisine.

She reportedly enjoys the energy drink Red Bull, and while that can make sense for a young woman on the go, there are far more nutritious and beneficial foods and drinks she can consume to get quick and lasting energy, than a fleeting burst. Since being diagnosed with lupus a couple of years ago, her diet has presumably changed to account for her condition, which can cause crippling fatigue and depression.

Lupus is a crippling autoimmune disease that can sometimes be managed through lifestyle and diet, though medications to help reduce swelling and pain are often called for. To keep the condition in check, Gomez has ditched foods with sugar and replaced those items with more healthful options.

Foods Selena Gomez eats to stay fit include chickpeas, lentils, peanut butter, bananas, and berries, which will provide her with a good source of energy to help combat the fatigue brought on by lupus. Other excellent food choices for lupus include:

  • Greek yogurt;
  • Sunflower seeds;
  • White tea;
  • Figs;
  • Broccoli;
  • Sweet potatoes;
  • Oranges;
  • White beans;
  • Asparagus;
  • Turmeric;
  • Sardines;
  • Wild salmon; and
  • Lemon water.
