The Zoe Saldana diet is a non-diet of sorts because she’s given up on the entire diet concept. The Zoe Saldana weight gain during pregnancy was 70 pounds, and the Star Trek Beyond actress also suffered from a lack of energy, weak joints, and pain during exercise in the months following the birth of her twin sons.
So she made the decision to start one step at a time, with the goal to get back in shape and feel good again by the time her twins were walking and she returned to work.
She hired trainer Steve Moyer, who started her off slowly with some walking, and from there they moved on gradually to other exercises and activities. This shows that not all A-list celebrities just bounce back from pregnancy. Saldana’s honesty about her post-pregnancy fitness struggles is refreshing and relatable.
Saldana has also filmed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, in which she reprises her role as Gamora. Saldana posted a picture on Instagram in December showing off her once-again svelte body in the outfit she wore in 2013 for that same role, before she gave birth.
That she fit back into it after having twins was a marvel to her, but that’s what hard work does and it paid off for Saldana.
Zoe Saldana’s Eating Habits
Staying fit and slim is important in Saldana’s line of work, but the fact that she’s tossed aside the word “diet” says a lot about her state of mind when it comes to maintaining her physique. Her strategy, a friend says, is to follow the 80/20 rule—not only where food is concerned but in all aspects of her life, such as clothes and other fun indulgences.
Think a little bit of high-end luxury with some Target thrown in for good measure. Balance is key, and Saldana seems to have a clear grasp of how to manage all areas of her life.
Her husband Marco is Italian, so it’s tough to completely eliminate all the typical Italian dishes from their lives, but they do try to make pizza crust from cauliflower and use quinoa flour for breaded meats.
Speaking of quinoa, Saldana declares it’s a perfect post-workout meal when paired with chicken and zucchini because of the high levels of protein found in that particular combination of foods.
The Zoe Saldana breakfast often consists of eggs, which she loves and can cook in a variety of ways. Another one of her favorite go-to meals in the morning is toast with mashed avocado and tomato.
To ramp up the protein in this dish, add an egg to each piece of toast and top with good-quality olive oil for the perfect combination of fats, proteins, and carbs.
The Zoe Saldana meal plan is 80% gluten free (of course), and the actress tries to steer clear of heavy foods at night. When the munchies strike after dinner, she likes to eat popcorn (GMO-free popcorn is best), with some her favorite flavors being white cheddar and Thai coconut curry. It’s these Zoe Saldana eating habits that keep her on track as a professional actress.
