Suicide Squad actress Cara Delevingne, who is also a model, has been open about how she thinks the modeling industry is fake, and how she wishes she could be curvier.

With her long, lean figure that high-end brands love, Delevingne isn’t apt to put on the pounds any time soon if she wants to continue working in a very body-conscious industry.

That being said, the Cara Delevingne diet is almost an anti-diet of sorts; at least it was before her current trainer got his hands on her.

Before prepping for her role in Suicide Squad, the actress made a number of questionable food choices.

Her preferred foods included: burgers (and lots of them, especially from McDonald’s), cheese steak sandwiches (because she loves anything with meat and cheese, so this is the perfect combo for her), green drinks (good option), bacon (so much so she has the word BACON tattooed on the bottom of her foot), pizza, strawberries and cream (a fruit finally!), and baked beans (high in sugar, but also high in fiber).

Clearly, genetics play a large part in this quirky, headstrong young woman’s ability to maintain a slight frame.

But when she wanted to get serious about her acting career, she decided to pay attention to her lifestyle and choices, and says that’s when the movie roles started coming. The party girl ditched the alcohol and changed her diet completely with the help of celeb nutritionist Dr. Philip Goglia.

Cara Delevingne’s Supermodel Diet Plan

To improve her health, Cara, 24, started eating fewer burgers and more whole foods, something everyone should be doing even if there’s no runway or red carpet at hand. Real life needs real food.

Goglia permits her to eat carbs, but not at the end of the day or for dinner. He tells her, and anyone who will listen, to stay away from breads, muffins, and bagels because these food items create inflammation in the body, and inflammation has been shown as a key contributor to poor health, and even diseases such as cancer.

So what if you want carbs at a meal like Delevingne? Goglia says to focus on one-ingredient starches such as potatoes, yams, sweet potatoes, corn, oatmeal, oat flakes and oat puffs.

Not as enticing as say french fries, but good health requires some sacrifices, and Cara Delevingne’s weight and health will be better off for it.

In the evening, Delevingne is allowed to eat protein and healthy fats so her body can turn them into muscle while she sleeps.

Here’s a sample menu of what she eats in a day.

  • Breakfast: A big bowl of oatmeal made with water, almonds and cardamom.
  • Lunch: Rosemary-seasoned turkey burger with asparagus, broccoli and sautéed sweet potato
  • Midday Snack: The best snacks to have, according to Dr. Goglia, are fruit and 12 almonds (a great source of good fat) or fruit and a tablespoon of almond butter.
  • Dinner: Japanese salmon with edamame salad.
