Ryan Gosling won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy for his role in the film, La La Land. The actor was consistently on his toes, learning a new set of skills as he geared up for the movie. He also learned to dance and his aspiration has certainly paid off. Gosling has a super fit body and exemplary style which compliments his looks. The actor glowed with pride and looked clean-cut, dressed in an one-button style ivory dinner jacket with a matte bow tie and suede shoes.

He thanked his co-star Emma Stone and director of the movie, Damien Chazelle, in his acceptance speech. Then he turned to pay tribute to his partner, Eva Mendes, alluding her endless love and support. Gosling said, “While I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one of the best experiences I’ve ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second, and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer.” He continued, “If she hadn’t taken all that on so that I could have this experience, it would surely be someone else up here other than me today.”  He dedicated the award to Mendes’ brother, Juan Carlos Mendez, who died of cancer last year.

Ryan Gosling’s Workout for “La La Land”

Ryan Gosling’s trainer, Arin Babaian, helped him build muscles and targeted his legs, core, and back. To get in shape for dance training for La La Land, Gosling’s workout started with a five-minute foam roller warm-up. It hit the major muscle groups of his body. Then he switched over to circuits using challenging but comfortable weights and minimum rests.

First Circuit: 5 Rounds

Five reps of each of the following exercises: deadlifts, power cleans, front squats, push presses, and back squats followed by running for 1/4 mile.

Second Circuit: 3 Rounds

10 reps of each of hanging leg raises and sit ups, followed by using a Pilates Reformer for five minutes. His trainer said, “I suggest everyone try a Pilates class with a trained instructor. It is a great addition to your training regime.”

For a particular scene where he was required to pick up people over his head, Babaian recreated the lifts involving Gosling’s costar, Emma Stone, with dumbbells and Olympic bars. Gosling’s sincere dedication despite his hectic schedule helped him get in shape faster. He was taking dance lessons, piano lessons, and working out while shooting for the film.

Gosling not only worked out for the movie, he also continued doing his regular workout routines which consists of barbell squats, reverse dumbbell lunges, bench presses, chin-ups, bicep curls, and triceps rope extensions.

Ryan Gosling’s Diet Plan

Gosling includes clean and natural foods in his diet. He has a protein-rich diet of fish and chicken, and even takes protein supplements like protein shakes. His diet also includes green vegetables, fresh fruits like bananas, whole grain bread, and rice.

He drinks plenty of water to keep him refreshed and hydrated. His protein-packed and carb-rich diet prevented him from getting exhausted due to the grueling workout routine and weary schedule.
