Affected lots of nutritional supplements’ Life’s Qik Fix and Zuma Supreme are being recalled because they contain undeclared milk and soy allergens.
Nutritional supplement manufacturer MagZuma Nutrition, based out of Tulsa, Oklahoma, announced the voluntary recall on Thursday after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) brought to their attention inconsistencies with their supplier’s allergen statement, concerning the amino acid ingredients used in the formulation.
The following lot numbers are being recalled; they were distributed throughout the U.S. by mail:
- Life’s Qik Fi – Daily Multi 180 Capsules (Lot Number: 16023). Shipping began on February 8, 2016
- Zuma Supreme –120 Capsules (Daily Multi). Lot Numbers: 16007, 14657, 14656, 15109, 15488, 15489, 15616) Shipping began on December 23, 2014.
Although no illnesses have been reported to date, consumers who are allergic to milk or soy may experience life-threatening allergic reactions if consuming the products.
Symptoms of soy or milk allergens can include:
- Hives or itchy skin
- Breathing difficulty
- Nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting
According to the company’s website, Life’s Qik Fix supplements contain 150 plant-based nutrients, as well as a combination of herbs, vitamins, antioxidants, amino acids and super-fruits. Zuma Supreme is said to contain 10 super-fruits and over 140 “wellness ingredients”.
Customers who discover the affected lot numbers for these particular supplement lots are being advised to return the products for replacement or for a full refund.
