Kerry Washington was at Sunday’s Golden Globes 2017 awards show in Los Angeles and looked stunning after giving birth only three months ago to her second child. The new mom, 39, looked in fantastic shape on the red carpet wearing a glimmering gold gown that she paired with a dark purple lipstick shade. The Scandal star looked dramatic and simply gorgeous, clearly flaunting her pre-pregnancy body.

Washington and husband, former NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha, welcomed son, Caleb, on October 5. In May, she showed off a bump at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington, DC, where she announced her pregnancy to the public. The couple wed in June 2013 in Idaho and choose to keep a low profile where their family and relationship are concerned.

In an 2015 interview with the Los Angeles Times, Washington said, “I just feel really blessed that I’m kind of living extraordinary dreams come true in my work life and in my personal life.”

How Kerry Washington Got Her Pre-Pregnancy Body Back

Washington has a terrific body that she works hard to maintain, and it is mostly thanks to doing regular Pilates classes, cardio workouts, and strength training with a stability ball thrown in for added core workouts. On top of this, she also incorporates interval training, squats, lunges, running, dancing, and hiking into her workout routines. The new mom works out with celebrity trainer, Nonna Gleyzer, a former gymnast. Gleyzer creates some fabulous routines for the actress and monitors her exercise and progress, always ready to tweak the program when required.

Kerry Washington works out five days a week for 60 minutes a session. No matter what the routine is or type of activity, the one thing she always loves to do is Pilates, her absolute favorite exercise of all. Who can blame her? Pilates is a tremendous exercise that builds a strong core, leans the body, and strengthens and tones from head to toe. The central idea behind Pilates is to develop a strong core.

Gleyzer, in an interview with Shape, said that Kerry Washington has been working with her for over six years and is a dedicated, devoted, and hard working woman who stays focused on her workouts. She said, “She does Pilates three to four times a week for 60 minutes per session.” Below is a sample of a workout Gleyzer put together for Washington. Do one set of each exercise, with little to no rest between moves. Here are two of the moves from the routine.

Double Leg Extensions

Lie face up with a foam roller under your lower back. Place a towel under your neck for support. Pull your core in tight; hands go on each side of the roller. Lift the knees to your chest, keeping your core tight. Straighten the knees; hold for a second and then return knees to the chest. Do 10 reps.

Shoulder Toner

Stand with feet hip-distance apart in the center of a resistance band; your right foot is behind your body. Bend both knees a bit. Put your wrists inside the handles of the band with palms facing down, hands to your sides. Lift your arms to your sides of your shoulders and inhale. Bring your arms back down to the starting position while you exhale. Do this 10 times on one side then switch to the other side for another 10 reps.
