Nina Dobrev, star of XXX: Return of Xander Cage, is scheduled to be released on January 20, 2017. It is a sequel to both the 2002 film xXx and the 2005 film xXx: State of the Union.
The Vampire Diaries star looks super fit in the trailer of the upcoming film, which she posted on her Instagram. Let’s take a look at her fitness routine.
Dobrev’s Workouts
Dobrev shared that she started working out right from the age of nine. She played a lot of sports and loved ballet. Her dance and gymnastic lessons helped her stay active through childhood.
She works out for an hour with the supervision of her personal trainer, Steve Moyer. Her workouts are not focused on attaining a skinny shape, but on increasing her stamina, balance, speed, and confidence. She focuses on toning her whole body rather than specific body parts. Dobrev does a lot of cardio, which include spinning, surfing, stretching, hiking, and running.
She loves hot yoga, especially Bikram yoga, and does it three to four times a week. It helps her sweat, leaves her with radiant skin, and also provides the benefits of cardio and stretching. She recommends it to her fans!
When she is feeling restless, she poses in a downward dog position—this helps her fight anxiety and improves her blood circulation. She regards yoga as an exercise that helps you connect with your inner self and keeps you calm. Yoga has benefited the actress to such an extent that she thinks of delivering yoga classes.
“When I work out, I feel happy, confident, and accomplished,” she told Seventeen Magazine.
Dobrev’s Low-Carb Diet
The Vampire Diaries star prefers a low-carb diet, but that doesn’t mean she eats no carbs or calorie deficient foods. She believes a no carb or a calorie deficient diet will deprive the body of the essential nutrients. Awhile back, Dobrev tried out a vegan diet, getting rid of all animal foods for about four months. The low protein diet made her extremely skinny, and soon she started looking weak and pale. She immediately switched back to her normal diet.
She consumes a balanced diet of green veggies, lean protein, whole grains, and healthy fats.
Dobrev consumes five to six small meals in a day, which provide her with sustained energy and boosts her metabolism. Her sources of proteins include lean meat, almonds and other nuts, fish and eggs.
She also relies on Moyer’s food delivery service for some days, and she loves their protein balls. Her diet plan includes very few processed foods, lots of vegetables and fruits, and is not restrictive.
